Robert E. Clapper Jr.

Robert E. ''Bob'' Clapper Jr., 79, of Camillus died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 of cancer.

Born in Syracuse, he graduated from North High School. He retired in 1985 as a police officer with the Syracuse Police Department after 40 years. He was a member of the original ''Pea Coat Squad,'' had worked in patrol and retired from the identification department as a fingerprint expert. He was a member of the Syracuse Police Benevolent Association and Police Retirees Association. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and its Holy Name Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors: His wife of 57 years, the former Eleanor M. Lundy; four daughters, Pamela Wilson of Syracuse, Susanne Jayne of Moravia, Lori M. Clapper of Camillus and Betsy Williams of Albany; two sons, Robert E. III of Liverpool and Paul of Syracuse; two sisters, Jean Wakeman of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Hyla Minner of Albany; a brother, Chester of Syracuse; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Billy Wilson, Angela and Ryan Clapper, Amber, Victoria and Samantha Jayne, Joshua and Sarah Williams.

Services: 9:45 a.m. Monday at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial with military honors, Assumption Cemetery.

Calling hours, 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 10 Genesee St., Camillus.
