Winfred H. Holmes
Winfred H. Holmes, 85, of 107 Suffolk Road, Syracuse, died Friday, March 15, 2002.
Born in Oelwein, Iowa, he graduated from William Penn College and Haverford College.
He retired in 1981 after 13 years as a chemist at the Onondaga County Metro Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was a research chemist for General Electric for 22 years in Syracuse, formerly worked at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City and was a member of Fairmount Community Church.
Survivors: His wife of 57 years, the former Anita L. Murphy; a daughter, Sue Hauge of Syracuse; four sons, Stephen R. of Clifton, Va., Alan W. of Gaithersburg, Md., Brian M. of McLean, Va., and Christopher M. of Berryville, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Mills of Marine, Ill., and Maizie Lord of Perry, Iowa; a brother, Roland Holmes of Brunswick, Ga.; two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in Fairmount Community Church. Burial, Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.
Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St., Camillus.
