Ellen K. Lawrence

Ellen Katherine Lawrence, 74, of the Virginia Beach and formerly of Syracuse passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on March 21, 2003.

A native of Syracuse, New York, Mrs. Lawrence was the only child of James and Monica Connors. She was the widow and devoted wife of William Lawrence, whom she had met while he was serving with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. They were married from September 10, 1955 until his death on October 27, 1987.

She was an alumnus of Morrisville Technical Institute, Morrisville, New York and a licensed dietician, working at Runnymeade Hospital in Toronto, Ontario until her return to Syracuse in 1966.

She was employed by Key Bank in Syracuse and retired from there after completing 25 years of service. She stayed in Virginia to be with her daughters. Her family was her life. She enjoyed the rewards of being a wife, mother and grandmother and always put the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her son, William Jamie Lawrence of Syracuse; two daughters, Monica Silva and Elizabeth Zieger; three grandchildren, Jennifer Silva and twin grandsons, Matthew and Scott Zieger, all of Virginia Beach; and a host of loving friends.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, March 26, 2003, by Father James E. Parke at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am on May 8th at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Otisco, NY in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be sent to the Davis Corner Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc., 4672 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455.
