Charles L. Penfield, 81 of Skaneateles died Friday at VA Medical Center in Syracuse. Born in Bridgeport, CT he graduated from Wilbraham Academy in 1942 and later attended Syracuse University where he pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Charles served in the US Army during WWII. He owned the Penfield Insurance Agency in Fayetteville until 1971. He later attended Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine. He was a former member and lay minister at Fairmount Community Church. He more recently attended Marcellus United Methodist Church. Charles was a past member of Skaneateles Country Club. He was a chapter member and past president of Fayetteville-Manlius Rotary Club and a former member of Skaneateles and Camillus Rotary Clubs. He was a Past District Governor (1975-6) and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (Meyer) in 1970. Survived by a son David C. and his wife Cynda of Skaneateles; a daughter Joanne (Jody) Louison and her husband John of Merrimack, NH; a sister Joan Begg of Nichols, CT; one grandson and two step-granddaughters. Services are 10 am Wednesday at the Skaneateles Presbyterian Church. Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at B. L. Bush & Sons, 10 Genesee Street, Camillus. Military burial will be in Mt.
