Gabriel Nagy 96, of Solvay died Thursday following a brief illness. He was born in Hungary and emigrated to Camillus with his family at the age of three. He worked for Camillus Cutlery for 50 years retiring in 1972. A member of the First English Lutheran Church in Syracuse and former church school teacher, frequent usher, men's bowling team and choir member. He was an avid fisherman until a few years ago. He was also a former member of the Liederkranz Society in Syracuse. He was predeceased by his parents Gabor Nagy in 1971 and Anna Dubravsky Nagy on 1950, a sister Margaret Nagy in 2000, a sister Helen F. Nagy in 1980 and his wife, Bertha Carlson Nagy predeceased him in May of 2001. He is survived by two daughters Roberta “Robin” Batley of Jamesville and Marilynn “Lynn” Farrar of Fairport, NY; two grandsons, Andrew M. Yoggy of Killeen, TX and Stephen G. Yoggy of Rochester; two granddaughters Susan L. Choi of Columbus Grove, OH and Sarah L. LaFrance of Downingtown, PA and five great granddaughters. Services were held Monday at B. L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee Street, Camillus. Calling hours were Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the spring in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus. Contributions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church, 510 James St, Syracuse 13203.
