H.W. “Bill” Curtis, 65 of Moravia, NY went to be with the Lord Monday March 9th, 2009. Born and raised in Hartlot, NY. Bill joined the Army and served Honorably from 1961 – 1964. Upon discharge from the Army he started a family and raised 3 children. His career in the LP gas industry moved him to Bethlehem, PA in 1973 and then to Liverpool, NY in 1979. In 1986 he built his dream home on inherited land back in Hartlot, NY. He eventually settled in Moravia, NY, from where he operated a transportation company and a collectibles shop for several years. Bill was a member of VFW and is remembered by his family as a hardworking provider, for his wisdom and unconditional love. He was known for his quick-witted humor, capable of bringing cheer to any atmosphere. Bill's hobbies included collecting farm tractors and model trains. He always enjoyed the yearly train show at the State Fair. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard & Anna May Curtis. Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie of 14 yrs, three children, Scott (Jennifer) Curtis of Elbridge, Christopher (Kristy) Curtis of Clay, and Kelly Curtis of N. Syracuse; 12 grandchildren, two step sons, Albert Townsend and Jeffery Townsend both of Auburn; one cousin, Penny Pennell of Lafayette; a close friend/father figure Jack (Hellen) Davies of Port Byron; life-long friend John Moorehead of Hart Lot and brother-in-law Rick Baker of Moravia. Services will be 11 am Friday in the Burrows Chapel at Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles followed by military service and burial. Contributions may be made to D.A.V.
