John J. Scanlon, 75, of Marcellus passed away Wednesday surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse he graduated from Cathedral Academy and attended Lemoyne College. John retired in 1994 as the Central Region Service Supervisor at the Hinsdale Station for Niagara Mohawk, he was a former member of IBEW and the Marcellus Jaycees. John was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. He enjoyed being at the family camp on Lake Ontario, working around the house, RV trips and journeys to Ireland. He was predeceased by his son Michael J. in 1994 and a brother Edward Scanlon and a sister Kate Palmer. John is survived by his wife of 53 years the former Nancy Hiscock, four sons Patrick, Terrance (Jennifer), Timothy (Jane), John (Jodi), a daughter Kelly Scanlon; two sisters Mary (Art) Bertolo and Betty (Tom) Maroney; 14 grandchildren, Brandon and Brianna Scanlon, Thomas, Tyler, Michael and Henry Scanlon, Hannah and Nash Scanlon, Virginia, Sean and Casey Horsford, Dennis, Daniel and Mikaela Scanlon; a brother-in-law Rich Palmer; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Sunday, July 21st from 4 to 8 pm at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St., Village of Camillus. Services are Monday 10 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
