Muriel Alice (Manning) Kortright, 93, of The Gateway Apts. in Skaneateles, died May 27, at Crouse Hospital among a loving granddaughter, grandson and a wonderful group of caring medical professionals and caregivers. Born in Whitesboro, NY to first generation English immigrants Mark and Jennie (Barton) Manning, she graduated from Camillus High School in 1931 and had worked for a long time as women's sportswear buyer for Dey Brothers Dept. Store in Syracuse and in her own Skaneateles shop, The Casual Manor, and then for Kalet's in Auburn, before "retiring" to work at Hahn's pharmacy in Skaneateles. She loved flowers and always tended rose bushes, dahlias, peonies, geraniums, bachelor buttons, mums, sunflowers, and wild flowers. She was predeceased by a brother Francis James Manning; a sister, Hilda Newton, and her husband Paul "Dutch" T. Kortright in 1982. She is survived by a son Richard T. Kortright and daughter-in-law Jane R. Cottrell of London, England; two granddaughters Jane Kortright of Kansas City, Missouri, and Joanne Perry, of Greenville, South Carolina. A Memorial Remembrance will be at the 9:30 am service at Skaneateles Presbyterian Church on Sunday, July 2. Private burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements by B.L.
