Rachel (Harter) Auyer

Rachel Grace (Harter) Auyer, 91, of Baldwinsville, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday at Syracuse Home. Born in Otisco, she graduated from Warners High School in 1928 and the Syracuse City Normal School in 1931. She taught 6th Grade at Warners High School for 8 years before marrying Earl Leroy Auyer in 1939. The young couple moved to Lynn, MA where Earl was employed as an engineer by General Electric. In 1952 the couple moved to Cincinnati, OH where Earl continued work for General Electric and Rachel was a homemaker and substitute school teacher. While in Cincinnati, Rachel was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church and PEO Chapter Y. More recently, she was a member of Syracuse PEO Chapter M and the Warners United Methodist Church where she was in Bethany Circle. She was predeceased by her husband Earl, two brothers Roland and Philip Harter, two sisters Dorothy Montgomery and Joyce Harter Buies in 2003. She is survived by two sons; Stephen of Liverpool and David of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren: Jill of Woodbridge, VA; Douglas of Liverpool and Rebecca of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews. Services were 3 pm January 10 at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St, Camillus. Calling hours are 1 to 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services are 2 pm Saturday, June 26 in Tully Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Warners United Methodist Church, 6514 Canton Street, Warners, NY 13164.
