Helen Raus

Helen Craib (Walker) Raus, 90, of Howlett Hill, passed away at home on Thursday, April 9th. She was born in Nicholson, PA on June 27, 1918, the 3rd child of Lewis and Jeannie (Mearns) Walker. Always full of life and ready to help anyone who crossed her path, Helen made everyone feel comfortable and at home. Helen was a very giving person taking care of a number of family members and friends when in need. She graduated from Camillus High School. An avid homemaker all her life, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, tatting and gardening. Helen and her husband were Family Care Providers for the CNYDSO (Central NewYork Developmental Services Office) for a disabled young man whom lived with their family for 17 ½ years until his death in 1992. Her husband, William J. Raus predeceased her in 1988 and a son, Daniel died in 1975. Helen is survived by her three children, William J.(Loretta) Raus of Essex, NY, Jean H. (William) Finizio and Joyce A.(Thomas) Becker both of Howlett Hill. She had ten grandchildren; Barbara Briggs, Brenda Quinlan, James Raus, William Raus, Laraine Rapple, Elaine MacIntosh, William Finizio Jr., Beth Chernoff, Suzanne Rake, Julie Ann Becker; 15 great grandchildren, Ryan MacIntosh, Dylan MacIntosh, Kyra Jean MacIntosh, Liam MacIntosh, Hayden MacIntosh, Kyle Briggs, Aimee Briggs, Roger Quinlan, Cecelia Quinlan, Julia Quinlan, Matthew Quinlan, Jesse Raus, Michael Raus, Tyler Chernoff, Delia Chernoff; nephews, John Michael Walker (Mick), James Walker, Lewis Walker Jr.; nieces, Nancy Swiech, Judy Normand, Janet Francis. Family, friends and neighbors may attend her calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at B.L. Bush and Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St., Camillus. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus.
