Elizabeth S. Cherchio

Elizabeth S. Cherchio, 91, passed away in Pawley's Island, SC on October 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Up until her last days, Mom was fiercely independent, maintaining her own home and living her life to the fullest. She was our mom, friend, sounding board, travel companion, caretaker, advice giver. She was all those things, and more, with kindness, grace, compassion and old-fashioned grit. In any situation or circumstance, she just knew what was needed, and was there to provide it. Born on December 11, 1931 to George and Evelyn Stock, Elizabeth lived, worked and raised her family in her hometown of Camillus, NY. She retired from her career as the Head Coordinator of Housekeeping for Loretto of CNY and in 2004, relocated to Pawley’s Island, SC. Surviving are her loving children: two daughters - Linda Herron of Keene, NH and Lisa (Robert) Blenkle of Patterson, NY; four sons - John (Teresa) Cherchio of Syracuse, James (Cheryl) Cherchio of Camillus, David Cherchio of Jordan, Mark (Stacey) Cherchio of Pawley’s Island, SC; and her daughter-in-law, Tina Cherchio of Jordan. Also surviving are her 24 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren; her brother, James Stock of Seabrook, TX and a sister Mary Stock of New York; many nieces, nephews and their families. Elizabeth also had a wealth of friends, from her “Cul-de-Sac Kids” to her long-time friends and partners in fun, who she adored and who adored her equally. She also leaves behind her furry companion, Lucy Lou, who was her faithful friend and co-adventurer. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Angelo J. Cherchio in 2016; son, Robert G. Cherchio in 2015; son-in-law, John M. Herron in 2022; her parents; and three sisters, Barbara Roulet, Gail Pettinger and Thelma McCormack. There will be no calling hours. Services are 10 am Saturday, November 11th at Grace Chapel, Skaneateles. Internment will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge. Arrangements by B.L.
