Sarah (Chieffo) Johnson

Sarah M. (Chieffo) Johnson, 80 years young, of Memphis embarked on her last journey on March 18th, 2025, to be reunited with her husband Bill, the love of her life. Sarah was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She met her forever love while she was working in a candy store. After 3 years of marriage, they moved to Memphis, NY to be in the country. Of course, their first purchase was a horse! Anybody that knows her from her 4-H and Appaloosa Horse show era, knows her as “Dawn‘s Mom”, and she was the best show mom ever! When she worked at Excellus, she would go to Helping Hounds on her lunch break to play with and walk the dogs. After she retired from Excellus in 2017, she was always on the go - whether it was taking trips with her friends or volunteering at the Camillus Senior Center. Sarah was a member of the Camillus Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She had weekly get-togethers with the Sassy Seniors and Silver Sneakers for exercise classes, coffee, or to listen to live music. Sarah is known for her determination, independence, quick wit, and love for dancing and music. She was an inspiration and admired and loved by all who knew her. Her grandson was the light of her life. Sarah was predeceased by her husband William in 2005 and her brothers Joseph and Teddy. Surviving are her daughter, Dawn (Peter) Addabbo; her grandson, Cole Addabbo; several nieces, cousins, amazing friends, and her beloved dog Luna. Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 29th from 2 to 4 pm at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St. Camillus with a short service to follow. A celebration of Life party for Sarah will be held right after the service from 5 to 8 pm at the Camillus Elks Lodge #31, 6117 Newport Road, Camillus. For those wishing to attend the burial services, please be ready to leave the funeral home on Monday, March 31st at 10:45 am to follow the procession to the cemetery.
