Evelyn (Beard) Amidon

October 29, 1925 - November 16, 2018

Evelyn M. (Beard) Amidon, a longtime resident of LaFayette, NY, passed away at her home on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born in Syracuse on October 29th, 1925 to Edwin and Edna Beard she graduated from North High. Throughout her life, she enjoyed shopping, traveling and camping, and she held a love of Bingo and knitting. In her career, she worked as the bookkeeper and town clerk in the town of LaFayette for 28 years. She also gave her time to the Shriner’s Circus by serving as their bookkeeper for a number of years. She will be remembered best as a loving and devoted sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she knew she was blessed to have such a large family. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Amidon and her son Ted. Her memory will be cherished by those who survived her including her sons Stephen (Vicky) of Ohio, Michael (Sue) of LaFayette and Robert Jr. (Maude St. Denis) of LaFayette, as well as her daughters Kay (Larry) Gould of Syracuse, Susan (John) Vadala of Georgia and Janice (Kevin) John of Glenville, her daughter-in-law Annie of LaFayette; her brother Robert Beard of Syracuse; her sisters Kathleen Beard of Syracuse, Mary Margaret Vanamerongen, Jean Stuenzi, and Ruth Reynolds all of N. Carolina. She is also survived by her 25 grandchildren and her numerous great-grandchildren. Calling hours are Monday from 11 am to 12 pm at The Church of the Nativity at Saint Joseph's in LaFayette with a funeral Mass to be celebrated immediately following at noon. The burial will be at LaFayette Rural Cemetery. Arrangements by B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Camillus.
