William "Butch" Whyland

December 31, 1942 - November 26, 2019

William Edward “Butch” Whyland, 76, of Weedsport, passed away Tuesday the 26th of November. Born in Syracuse, Butch was a graduate of West Genesee High School. He went on to attended Arizona State University as well as Syracuse University. Butch was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he faithfully served his country in Vietnam. Butch served his community as an Onondaga County Deputy Sheriff, Medic, volunteer firefighter and was one of the founding fathers of W.A.V.E.S. Ambulance Corp. He retired from a 37-year career at Allied Chemical in Solvay. Butch was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bow and gun hunting, boating and camping with his family. Butch was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Butch was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Charlotte; and sister Elaine. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jane; his children Kevin (TyeAnne) Proper, Robin Whyland, Timothy Whyland and Toby Whyland; two brothers Victor (Candy) Phillips and Ronald Phillips; three grandchildren Erika Proper, Dakoda Proper and William “Alex” Whyland; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, December 6th from 5 to 7 pm at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee St., Camillus. Private services will be held.
