Betty Ann Niles Schug

Betty Ann Niles Schug, formerly of Syracuse and Camillus, New York, and most recently residing at Spring Meadows Trumbull, CT died on April 15, 2020, in Fairfield County, Connecticut. She was 92. Born in East Syracuse, New York, on March 29, 1928, to the late Howard John and Beatrice Ann (nee Lashomb) Niles, Betty graduated from Goodyear Burlingame in DeWitt in 1947 and married the late Frederick K. Schug II that August. She was a lifelong volunteer throughout Onondaga County and a communicant of Our Lady of Solace, Blessed Sacrament, and St. James Churches in Syracuse, St. Joseph’s in Camillus, St. Mary Magdalene in Apex, NC, and, most recently, St. Pius X in Fairfield, CT, having moved to Spring Meadows in July of this year with her beloved dog, Bandit. Admired and adored, she will now be greatly missed by all who were touched by her kind and generous spirit. Those who loved her dearly will cherish the life lessons she bestowed and her gracious nature in doing so. Betty was predeceased by her husband Frederick II in 1971, her son Frederick III in 2015, and her daughter Diana Kathleen in 2017. She is survived by daughters Carol (Anthony) Villodas and Sharon (Michael) Monfort, grandchildren Frederick (Nicole) Schug IV, Tiffanie (Ken) Landenberg, Jeffrey (Jacqulyn) Schug, Nathaniel Schug, Christian Villodas, Matthew Monfort, Melissa (Alex) Lane, and Lauren Villodas, great grandchildren Jenadyhia Berrios, Kendrilyn Landenberg, McKenzie Schug, Liam Landenberg, Logan Lane, and Luke Schug, brother Dean Niles, and sister Jean (Kevin) Culver. As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Betty’s family has decided to postpone services until later to honor, remember, and celebrate her life. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, August 19th 2023 at 9:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Syracuse. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt, NY. The services will be live streamed and a link will be provided on our website when it is available on Sat. 19th just before the funeral starts.
