Deborah L. Oram

Deborah Lynn Oram, 80, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2025, in Midlothian, Virginia, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 26, 1945, in Syracuse, New York, Deborah was the daughter of Athena M. Oram (née Burke) and Albert E. Oram Sr., both of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Syracuse Central Technical High School and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English and Education from Syracuse University. Deborah began her professional life as an English teacher before transitioning into a career in technology as a computer programmer and systems analyst, working for MONY and Computer Sciences Corporation. In 1995, she happily made her home in Richmond, Virginia, where she spent the remainder of her life. Deborah was an avid reader who loved crossword puzzles and staying informed on current events. She found great joy in crocheting and other fiber arts, as well as gardening. Annual vacations she lovingly planned with her husband, children, and grandchildren were especially meaningful to her. Above all, Deborah cherished her family and was deeply loved by them. She was also a devoted animal lover and shared her life with many beloved pet dogs over the years. Deborah is survived by her husband of 25 years, David S. Parnell, along with his children and grandchildren; her siblings, Athena M. Stoneburg and brother-in-law Kenneth J. Stoneburg Sr. of Syracuse, NY, Cecelia A. Seaver of San Francisco, CA, and Albert E. Oram Jr. of Syracuse, NY; her children, Stephen H. Walsh Jr. and Deborah R. Walsh, both of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren, Ivy Sugrue-Walrath, Catherine Walsh, and Rowan Walsh of Syracuse, NY, and Brynn Walsh-Antzak, Camille Walsh-Antzak, and Alexis Lily Walsh-Antzak of Richmond, VA; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on January 8 at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 W. Genesee Street, Camillus, NY, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, followed by a service at 6:00 PM.
