Elizabeth Martha Jenner

Betty (Bean) Jenner, 90, of Clearwater, FL and Camillus, NY, passed away on March 29, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Clearwater, FL. Born in Rochester, NY, She graduated with a BS from Syracuse University in 1939 and taught Home Economics at North Cohocton High School for one year. Betty was married to Kenneth Lloyd Jenner on July 20, 1940 in her parents’ garden in Syracuse, NY. They raised five children, Sandra (Bill) Kolb of Gainesville, FL, Michael (Ellen) Jenner of West Chester, PA and Hilton Head, SC, Walter (Barbara) Jenner of Daniel Island, SC, Nancy (William) Gabriel of Camillus, NY and John (Kim) Jenner of Lutz, FL. She returned to teaching in 1968 and taught at West Genesee High School for nine years. Betty earned a MS from Syracuse University in 1973. She also worked for Planned Parenthood in Syracuse. She is survived by her loving husband and children, thirteen grandchildren: Tom (Donna) Kolb of Gainesville, FL; Lisa (Kent) Hudson of Verona NJ; Kristan (Scott) Ellison of Gainesville, FL; Linda (Dan) Shevlin of Thornton, PA; Lauren (Darrin) Wright of Asheville, NC; Ken (Vanessa) Jenner of Glen Mills, PA; Debbie Jenner of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jesse Gabriel of Syracuse, NY; Carly (John) Boyles of Camillus, NY; Abbey Gabriel of Camillus, NY; Jacob Jenner, Julia Jenner and Jessica Jenner all of Lutz, FL; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie (Robert) Griffin and brother David (Patty) Bean, many nieces and nephews and numerous loving friends. She was a member of Fairmount Community Church in Syracuse, NY where she taught Sunday School and served on a variety of boards. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the West Genesee Parent-Teacher Association. She enjoyed poetry writing, singing in the chorus, Bunka embroidery, traveling, cooking and baking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 11 am at Fairmount Community Church, Syracuse, NY.
